Estuary: Out from London to the Sea

The Thames Estuary, one of the world’s great deltas, has carried people in and out of London for thousands of years. Rich in history, wildlife, and hard-earned livelihoods, it remains a unique and sometimes dangerous way of life for those who call it home. After travelling its length many times, Rachel Lichtenstein weaves together the voices of mudlarkers, fishermen, radio pirates, racers, and families to create an intimate portrait of a place where community and landscape continually shape one another.

I had the extraordinary privilege of joining Rachel on countless adventures in the making of the book, as we went across and around the Estuary over a few years and capturing every moment through my lens. The journey culminated in its publication in 2016.
